This book is about 11-year old Kalawa an African American girl, who is also apart of the Gullah/Geechee community in South Carolina. Kalawa and her father visits and take trips across a multitude of countries in Africa. In their first adventure, they stop in Sierra Leone in West Africa, to get in touch with her roots, and as she arrives she falls in love with not only the music but also the many lessons about African musical instruments. Having fun while LEARNING in each African country with each African People group they Explored with.
